Another month, another cake baked with the Cake Slice Bakers. Unfortunately, this month's Maple Pecan Chiffon Cake with Brown Butter Frosting was a dud in my book. The brown butter frosting was a greasy mess for me, so I ended up with a plain cake, that I felt lacked pizzazz.
But baking is trying and sometimes failing. I'll be back on the bike to give it another whirl next month! I've looked at our selection and I'm really excited about it!

Such a bummer that it was a bomb for you.
Yepper - next month another tasty treat to try.

It's always depressing when a recipe you've spent an hour (or more!) doesn't turn out. I'm sorry. Earlier this year I tried a Brown Butter Ravioli that was a disaster. I mean, we still ate it because I'm not a food-waster, but it was a never-again recipe, for sure!
Yes, this cake was definitely not a favorite for anybody in our group! Oh well! Your cake still looks delicious!
This icing seems to be driving everyone crazy! Such a pity too :) Your cake looks great though :) Hazel x
That's too bad it didn't work out
Oh Stacie...your cake has such a nice texture to it, unlike mine which was a bit dry! I didn't care for it either...but maybe next month will be different for us both! : )
Stacie!
What a lovely height your cake has; pity you did not like it.
The frosting did not agree with most of us but at least mine behaved to a certain degree!
ps: my frosting was greasy initially so I added more cream! and stuck it the fridge to thicken!
Your cake looks fantastic even without the frosting. Yep, it certainly was a strange frosting, and mine turned out greasy and slightly curdled too. I am determined to try it again some time taking into account the suggestions from our other Cake Slice Bakers.
Sorry the cake didn't work out for you. Hopefully next month's one will be a winner for you.
