Upside Down Broccoli Pizza

Healthy for you ground turkey and sneaking in a serving of vegetables, all disguised as upside down pizza? Winner! We really liked this twist on traditional pizza--loved the use of lower fat turkey and we also used low or reduced fat for any of the other ingredients (cheese, dressing, dough) that were available.

Side note: Since you will be placing the skillet in the oven, make sure that you are using a skillet with a metal handle--no plastic. And non-stick cookware is oven safe up to 500 degrees, so if your pan is non-stick, it is safe for this one also.

Upside Down Broccoli Pizza

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, diced (about 1 cup)
1lb. ground turkey
½ tablespoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
2 cups broccoli, chopped
½ cup Ranch Dressing
½ cup white Alfredo pasta sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
1 package refrigerated pizza dough
1 egg, beaten

Preheat the oven to 400˚F.

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a 10- or 12-inch skillet with a metal handle. Add onions, seasonings, and ground turkey; saute' until turkey is browned.

Stir in the broccoli, Ranch Dressing and Alfredo sauce until well combined. Sprinkle the cheese over the mixture and remove from the heat.

Unroll the pizza dough and lay it over top of the skillet. Stretch the dough over the rim of the skillet and then with kitchen shears, cut off the corners of the dough. Create a crust by rolling any excess dough around the rim and then stuff along insides of the skillet. Brush with beaten egg.

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Carefully remove from the oven and allow the pizza to rest a couple of minutes before cutting and serving.
