Tipsy Tuesday (#237)

I have never been a banana eater, but Elise loves them. I like to buy a large bunch at the beginning of each week, but keeping them from getting too ripe and mushy before she can eat them all is a challenge.

Tip #237

WikiHow offers this tip:

Put the bananas in the produce drawer of your refrigerator after they are fully ripe. Refrigeration slows the ripening process considerably, but does not stop it. The peel will continue to turn brown, but the fruit will stay fresh and firm for 1 to 2 weeks.

This is good to know! I used to HATE bananas, but for some reason, in the past few months, I've learned to like them. But I tend to like them when they still have a little green on the peel - once they get brown-spotty, I'm not so keen. I have a hard time getting them eaten in time. lol

My kids love them but they get mushy too fast and then I end up making banana bread.

Great tip!

That is one tip I actually knew, and yes the outsides will seem to turn brown even more quickly that way but the insides are great!
