but, just in case the folks at your house do...designate a space for "In Use" cups.
Create a special spot on the kitchen counter where everyone can put half-filled coffee mugs that need to be reheated, water glasses to be used again later, or sippy cups that can be refilled. At the end of the day, put everything that's still out into the dishwasher. It cuts down on kitchen clutter, and it also avoids shouts across the house of "Are you done with that coffee yet?"

My mom has often been heard berating us for leaving too many cups out, and complaining that she never knows if we're done with them or not...I shall recommend this to her!
If I find a cup that is half full and left-- I usually throw it away. I am sure it would end a few tiffs we have had in the house when the hubs realizes I've thrown away his cup of unfinished coke.... just need to find a central location! Great idea!
That's a great tip! My hubby has a bad habit of collecting his coffee cups (and various dishes and multiple half-full soda cans) on his desk out in his Man-Loft...when I'm getting ready to run the dishwasher he'll bring in his 'collection' that includes some 'ewwwww!' factor if they've been sitting for a while. Maybe that would help him not use more than one coffee cup a day when he forgets where he left his previously half-full cup. ;)

Interesting idea. When I still lived at home, my mom just put it in the dishwasher if it was laying around.
Great idea, my hubby is always yelling at me for dumping the last little bit of his drink and me at him for leaving it sitting out. Sounds like a win, win!
