An Easy DIY That Will Save You Green

I LOVE saving money--whether it is using coupons, getting a great deal on a BOGO, stocking up at a sale, or finding a new and less expensive way of doing something. I saw this post over at Infarrantly Creative a while back and have been meaning to try it. Beckie is a fellow ministry wife, full of great furniture rehab/craft projects and a fellow follower of Dave Ramsey and his Financial Peace University plan, which stresses saving and debt free living. So, I knew this tip from her was sure to be a winner.

I love foaming handwash, but it is a bit more expensive, so I usually skip it. Using Beckie's instructions, I patiently waited until my current bottle of foaming wash was empty, and then I turned this 98 cent bottle of hand soap:

into this full bottle of foaming wash, plus enough refills for 5 more times! Just use a 5 parts water to 1 part soap ratio, mix, and store for later use. The foaming handwash that I usually purchase is about $2, so using Beckie's system, I saved about $11! As Beckie points out this means that you can splurge on that bottle of slightly more expensive Bath & Body Works soap and s-t-r-e-t-c-h it out!

P.S. Be sure not to use the soap that has moisturizing beads in it--I think this is because it would clog your pump up.
