Gifts from the Kitchen - Day 1 (Holiday Pretzel Treats)

With Christmas just days away, time to shop is rapidly running out. But there is still plenty of time to whip up some delicious treats to give as gifts. Each day this week, I'll be sharing gifts that can be made in your kitchen, packaged up beautifully and given to friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers.

Gift from the Kitchen #1
A perfect combination of salty and sweet and a fool-proof recipe even for a kitchen novice!

Holiday Pretzel Treats

Here's what you'll need:

Bite size waffle-shaped pretzels
Hershey's Kisses or Hugs
M&M's

Here's what you do:

Heat the oven to 170 degrees. set a number of pretzels (one for each treat) in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then top with an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss or Hug.

Bake for 4-6 minutes (the white chocolate will melt more quickly), until the chocolates feel soft when touched with a wooden spoon. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press an M&M into the center of each .

Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes, then place them in the refrigerator to set, about 10 minutes. Place handfuls of the candies in clear plastic bags and tie with colorful ribbons.
