Tastes Like Fall, Ya'll!

It's a new year with the Cake Slice Bakers and that means that we are baking from a new book. This year it is Carole Walter's, Great Cakes.

Our first cake, Applesauce Spice Cake with Brown Sugar Glaze, is the perfect way to celebrate fall. It's full of warm spices, pecans, and chunks of apple and topped with a yummy glaze. I liked the flavors and the relative ease of this cake. I opted to use my new mini bundt pan to make small cakes to give as Thanksgiving treats for my co-workers and for Elise's Preschool teachers and caregivers at the gym. I even left one in the mailbox for our mail carrier...a little pre-emptive sorry I am doing so much online shopping and making you shove packages in my mailbox, if you will...

That's a great idea using them as gifts. I'd certainly love to get a gift like that. They look very yummy. Laura@baking in pyjamas

What a neat idea... Those little treats look sooo great! What a great way to warm everyone's hearts! I am so happy this cake's glaze is "the way it is" so you could package it so neatly! Wonderful!

You're so funny - I love that comment about the mail carrier.

The cakes really do sound perfect for fall. Now if I could only taste one.... do you deliver internationally? ;o)

I love your mini bundts too. I have a few bundt pans (since I am the Bundtamonth group) but I don;t have any minis, so I'll have to put them on on wish-list. Your cakes are so cute and I can see why they would make perfect gifts.

I loved this cake, I usually do not care too much for apples but I liked this cake. Backing them in little bundts are such a great idea. Perfect gifts!

Wow this is a popular post!! I really wish we had a group like that in my area that would encourage me to try new things. I think its super sweet you gave your mail carrier some. Did he/she thank you? I left mine a Halloween gift and never heard a word. :( I had hoped it would bring us closer.. ha!
