The Cake Slice Is 5!

I'm fortunate to be able to bake each month with a great group of ladies, known as the Cake Slice Bakers. Each year we select a book that the group agrees on (must be cakes only!), then we hold a monthly vote, bake the winning recipe and share our experience with the recipe on the 20th of each month. It is a lot of fun, sometimes you find a great recipe - a total keeper, other times you might bake something that is not exactly your taste, but you still get the experience and the fellowship!

Today the Cake Slice is celebrating its 5 year anniversary and to celebrate several of us are baking in the group's honor. This is my 2nd year with the group and I feel like I really missed some great books in the years before I joined. Here is a look at the books that the group has used (all available from Amazon):
I decided to bake from Cake Keeper Cakes, since that was a book that was used before I joined, but looked like it had so many yummy recipes in it. I chose the Nutella Swirl Pound Cake and oh my, is it good. I paired it with coffee ice cream, since that was the author's suggestion. I'm not a coffee drinker at all, but the richness of the Nutella and the coffee flavor made for an amazing grown up cake and ice cream experience. My cake stuck to the pan a little, most likely because I didn't flour the pan, but it was so easy to put together and all of the ingredients were everyday things that you probably already have in the fridge or pantry. You should definitely try this one!

Happy 5th Anniversary Cake Slice...looking forward to many more years of baking!

That is one cool club! I'd like to be a member - one that eats the spoils, but doesn't have to do the work. ;o)

I've tried a sample of Nutella at Costco and loved it! I've never bought a jar though and have been wanting to try a recipe with it too!
I urge you to buy the other baking books they are really great as well!

I love Nutella! I sooo love it! That's why I don't buy it at all! Otherwise it wouldn't last a whole day in my pantry... but... I will have to make an exception for this cake! YUM! Happy Birthday Stacie! Thanks for your support and beautiful cakes!

I've wanted to make this cake for so long and every time I buy Nutella I eat it all. It's hard for me to put a whole jar of it in one cake, so I keep chickening out :-)

I will try this one day!

Happy baking with you!

Happy Anniversary!
