Cupcakes In A Jar

This month's Cake Slice Bakers selection was perfect for a Valentine's Day treat. We voted for and baked Red Velvet Cake with Mascarpone Cream Cheese Frosting. I did not need a whole cake sitting around and I did need individual Valentine's for friends and co-workers, so I baked cupcakes. Some were boxed up and sent to Team Jacie's house and the rest were packaged in cute little mason jars for a perfect treat!

The cake was good, not overly sweet and very chocolatey and the frosting was delicious! Recipe is here.

Stay tuned to see what we are baking next month!

My friend Stacy made cupcakes in mason jars for a Christmas craft & bake sale a few years ago, and they were a huge hit! Such a great idea - and perfect for someone who is too tempted by a big cake sitting there (like me!!)

Awesome idea! And yes-- it is not a good idea to have a whole cake sitting around, trust me, I have been finding that out from the heart cake I made for valentines day. Good thing it is almost gone.

A fabulous variation on the recipe--and I know what you mean about not needing a cake sitting around. My husband took ours to work with him today.

I've seen so many members put their cakes into different shapes. This, too, is an interesting and way too adorable way of serving cakes! :)

Wow, that is such a great idea. I have never made anything in a jar before but it is such a unique way to present something. I agree that the frosting was delicious.
