Redneck Tupperware

I pack my lunch for work everyday and I am always looking for something new...let's face it, there are only so many Lean Cuisines a girl can stomach! So, when I saw this idea for toting salads in mason jars, I was stoked. I have tons of jars in my canning stash and salads are perfect for summer.

You can add whatever you like to customize your salad, just remember dressing in the bottom of the jar and the lettuce in the top. Mine is loaded with balsamic dressing, grilled chicken, apples, carrots, strawberries, and these delish Balsamic Pecans. And the tall, round shape of the jars (I used a wide mouth pint jar) is a way better fit in my lunch bag than the normal square container I would have to use to tote a salad. Salads will stay fresh in the jars for about 4 days, so that means less time in the morning scrambling to put something together. These would also be perfect for a picnic! Just shake and serve!

If you happen to have a stash of jars, be sure to search Pinterest for "mason jar meals"--you won't believe what you will find!

What great idea have you stumbled upon recently? Janette really wants to know, so don't leave her hanging! Head on over (just click that pretty little button below) and see what is inspiring her and others! And don't forget to link up your own great find--the more people at the party, the more fun!

I don't have an abundance of mason jars, but I'm sure I could get some! The idea of making a few salads up at the start of the week and them staying FRESH sounds wonderful to me! I love salads, but hate preparing them. :)

Good idea!! As I was trying to make my plastic box fit in my lunch box today so it wouldn't spill I remembered this post and thought I need to get some mason jars!

Too bad I never leave my house to eat lunch. This is a fab idea!
