Tip #142
without bodily injury or the desire to cuss like a sailor.
Using a hammer to hang pictures can be a daunting task, often resulting in a smashed thumb and a string of cuss words. Try this: Simply clip a clothespin onto the nail that you are hammering and hammer away. The clothespin will add the few necessary inches of space between your fingers and the nail. Even if the hammer slips, you'll be out of the danger zone.

LOVE your tips!
That is a nice one--I ahve a picture hanger--his name is Nick and he's way cuter than a clothes pin.
I almost always learn something new from these tips. I remember reading these when you were in the 80's. (tip number 80 something--not in the decade 80's because I like to pretend I wasn't born yet).
Thanks for linking up sweetcheeks!
P.S. I never cuss but I sometimes lie.
Awesome tip! I always call my brother over when I have to hang something on the wall to do it for me - now I'll have to tell him he's off the hook! haha!
I love your tips!! Keep them coming!!

great tip and my fingers appreciate it
That is an awesome tip! I'm going to be the handywoman around the house, so I will definitely be using this trick.
Well that's a helpful hint but what if your problems isn't so much hitting the nail as it is finding a stud when you don't want one or not finding one when you do? I'd be ashamed to let you see the mess behind my drapes and most of my pictures. I have a temper when things don;t go right and having a hammer in my hand when that happens is never a good thing!
Thanks for linking up!
Great idea!
