I've also been known to forget this tip and end up with a tiny sliver of glass in my foot. Sharing this one, so I can spare you...
After sweeping up the larger pieces of broken glass that you can see, use a piece of sandwich bread or a small ball of play dough to press along the area and catch any small slivers that the broom didn't catch.

Wow, never thought of that. I know a damp wash cloth will also get up all the tiny slivers of glass.
